So here's the list o' obstacles to proper prefixifying on VMS. - Obviously, you can't just concatenate paths.
- VMS prior to bleadperl is missing large chunks of %Config. And here's what we've got going for us: - All the existing %Config entires seem to be of the form perl_root:[...] which makes it relatively easy to figure out the prefix. so what I'm going to do is override prefixify() on VMS so that it looks for perl_root:, tears that out and hard-codes your new PREFIX. I'm also going to override init_INSTALL so that on 5.6.1 and back it will attempt to recover the missing %Config variables from other existing ones. -- Michael G.
