Thanks, Peter and Craig, for the helpful suggestions. In fact, I
had the logicals defined *two* times (v5.6.1 systemwide, v5.8.0
in the process), and I only had the perl command defined as a
process grobal symbol (must have been some other machine where
I put it in the DCL tables - sorry).

But: after realcleaning & rebuilding, deinstalling PERLSHR and
deassigning all logicals and symbols, Perl 5.8.0 still gives me
7 failed tests, with an ACCVIO on at least the first two. The
debug session of t/run/switches up to the failure is in the
attached file.

Any ideas?
