While what you write is true, more correctly, two directories above the current
one is [--].  Watch:

$ sho def
  A305_DISK:[TILLMAN.NETSCAPE.CACHE.00]
$ dir [--]

Directory A305_DISK:[TILLMAN.NETSCAPE]

ADDRESS-BOOK.HTML;1 BOOKMARKS.HTML;1    CACHE.DIR;1         CERT-NAMEIDX.DB;1
CERT.DB;1           CERT5.DB;2          COOKIES.;81         HISTORY.DB;1

Total of 13 files.
