Correct way to delete file(s) on OpenVMS?

Hi,

I'm setting up a web-based mechanism for users to manage certain files. 
It's running with the HP-supplied Perl 5.6.1 recommended for use with
Apache 1.3.

Is unlink() the correct mechanism to use in OpenVMS Perl to delete one
or more files?  Or does that simply do a SET FILE/REMOVE ?
