Those failures (which we are still seeing in blead) are due to
problems in File::Spec, not in MakeMaker per se.  Once PathTools 3.02
is out and integrated, they should go away.  The difference observed
with the new MakeMaker may simply be that running the tests from an
installed Perl rather than a fresh build does not exercise the bugs
in rel2abs and canonpath.
