Yes, I'm replying to a message from almost six months ago. I eventually remembered to ask Dan Sugalski for access to his VMS::* extensions on CPAN, which he kindly granted, and I eventually remembered to apply Thomas's patches, and I eventually remembered to upload the results to CPAN.
