Not too difficult with MMK, as John said.  Or, if you're stuck with
MMS, unpack the archive in a way that gives you ODS-2 safe names.

Are you talking about the warning that you are building a development
release?  You can tell configure.com that you already know that by
making your configure command look like:

$ @configure -"Dusedevel" -"des"

Module::Build is still in need of a lot of work for VMS.  The number
of test failures number in the teens.  I sent a patch to the
maintainer that knocked out about half of those a few weeks ago, but
it hasn't been applied yet.
