An idea.... I used to work with some IBM equipment and in the documentation there were flowcharts about how to troubleshoot faults. Quite helpful actually. What about getting somthing like that into the documantation and/or faq? (It dowesn't have to be an actual chart, just a numbered list with instructions like: "If ok skip to no. x" )
