Actually, I can no longer get in :-) Since I used RDP to connect, then 'disconnected', vnc can not longer get me back into my box.
Hence, once you use RDP, VNC no longer works ok. I get a black screen with an immobile mouse.. The problem might be related to the 'windows logon' screen, though I just tried and it worked ok. I even logged out and saw the logon screen (via VNC) and successfully logged on again without it dropping. I have a feeling it is working now... I just rebooted XP from a VNC session, then connected and logged in also from VNC. I even connected using RDP (microsoft remote desktop connection), then simultaneously RECONNECTED via VNC and they happily co-exist... very odd. My WIN2KS experience tells me that the RDP client and the VNC client should see different things. I guess XP's RDP server really is different... Because I KNOW the physical display is showing a logon screen, yet VNC is showing me the RDP frame buffer.. Hmm. Thanks anyway for your help. Cheers.
