Hi,

Being the computer-ridden person I am, I tried to use the
solaris8 "talk" command to contact someone with 10
terminals open (probably dtterms). Nothing happened
(no the person doesn't hate me), so I did a few experiments.
First, I tried to identify the terminals that I had, corresponding
to the xterms opened on my vnc desktop. As far as the
"who" command was concerned, my xterms didn't exist.
I couldn't even get one xterm to talk to another one, even
after I found their terminal IDs using "who -m". I just got
the complaint that such a terminal/user wasn't logged on.
I used both /dev/pts/xxx as well as pts/xxx syntax.

So what gives? How come those terminals "don't exist"?
The only terminal that apparently registers with the "who"
command is the ssh session that I use to establish the
tunnel for VNC. I'm using TightVNC 1.2.2, but I don't
think that's the cause.
