You either need to introduce a router of some sort into the network to
join the two subnets together or alternatively multihome either or both
of the two systems. With Linux this can be done pretty easily using
ifconfig, whereas with Windows this generally requires making some
changes to the registry.
For Linux:
ifconfig eth0:0 <second-address> netmask <second-netmask>
For Windows XP:
See MS Knowledge Base Q314053
If you have other versions of Windows then I think the XP info should
provide a pointer.
