Hello All:

I'm running the current 3.3.3r9 Win32 VNC server on a Win2k Pro SP2
workstation. I'm connecting to that server via 3.3.3r9 VNC viewer on a
similarly configured Win2k Pro SP2 workstation.

I'm able to connect to the VNC server with no problem using the viewer app.
However, when I logoff Windows on the server via the VNC viewer, the viewer
shuts down giving no errors. The VNC server does log out correctly. When I
attempt to reconnect using the viewer I'm able to connect to the IP and enter
a password. After entering the password I get a popup warning stating
"connection closed".

I'm also able to connect to the VNC server via the java browser interface on
port 5800 with no problem. When I logoff Windows on the server via this
client interface I receive the following error message:
java.io.IOException: Unknown RFB message type -1
The VNC server logs out correctly, but I'm unable to reconnect at all using
the browser.

I've seen a few references to similar problems in the archives usually
indicating that this is either a default video resolution problem or that the
service is not configured. I've verified that the server is running VNC as a
service and the default and user passwords have been setup. The administrator
account is currently the only account configured on the box so there is no
issue as far as switching between accounts. I've reinstalled the video driver
for the ATI Rage Fury Pro AGP card and restored the default settings.

I started off with the default server settings and have tried just about every
variation of those settings including turning the service helper on/off. I've
tried all of the Encoding options and turning copyrect on/off. I've tried
turning the shared session and deiconify on bell on/off. I've tried disabling
the key/mouse on the server. I've tried all option for update handling on the
server. I've tried the auto display number and setting the display number
with various numbers. I've tried a null password as well as having a
password. In short I've tried changing every value on both client and server
sides and nothing seems to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is the only problem I've found with an
otherwise excellent product, but I need the ability to logoff the box and log
back in. Thanks!
