Like suggested, I have installed TightVNC. The connection works locally on the LAN, but it is still not working using the DSL connection. I consider that the router is well configured, because a can reach the VNC host and authenticate. Can my problem reside here ?
I have a copy of the log file with a local connection who worked and a distant one who failed. Could someone can help finding the problem by reading with the logfile. Thanbk you. In addition, you will find many nice extras included like high data compression, less bugs, more flexible password configuration, prompt the user for permission to connect, and more. Alternatively you can wait until the bug is fixed in the next release of WinVNC. I have not seen any time frame (this month, next month, next year ....). All I know is that the author of WinVNC has stated that the bug will be fixed in the next release. If you really want to stick with WinVNC for some reason, you may be able to work around the problem by reducing the screen resolution, reducing the number of colours displayed on the screen and/or setting WinVNC to only use 8-bits (256 colours). These changes might be enough to establish your initial connection.
