I'm glad to see that I am not the only person this was happening to. I used WinVNC at my old job without any problems, but at my new job, the wallpaper keeps going away. Checking the display properties in WinNT, the setting remains the way it was, but without displaying the wallpaper. I thought I was going crazy. I can correct them after I connect via WinVNC, but they revert the next time I WinVNC in. It's not the end of the world, but since the wallpaper displays the name of the server, it's kind of handy.
