Whoah there. MS bought a $150 million (~5%) worth of Apple as a settlement for a few lawsuits (patent cases, iirc) that Apple where going to trounce them with. This was back in '97. They also promised to keep on producing Office & IE for the Mac for another 5 years. $150 million was in non-voting stock, and was peanuts for MS, and was a big win for Apple (pushed their stock up at a time when it wasn't doing so hot). I'm fairly certain that MS have sold their stock since. The point is, in *no* way do MS own Apple. I'm not a big fan of either, but they're not in cahoots. Now that the 5 years are up, will MS drop IE & office on Mac - probably not, they're making a profit off them (one of the their few divisions showing an uncooked profit), but Apple could shaft them with a Moz/OpenOffice bundle with OSX... yum. > Linus Torvalds probably saw this day and many other more 'amusing" > days, coming when he decided to write the Linux kernel. Linus had *no* idea.
