This shouldn't matter, though I believe you want to hard code the IP to
make some of the other options work (like port forwarding). See the
article KB10933123 on the Linksys website (search in their Knowledge
Base).

Didn't see anything about this. If it is a typo for WAN request, then
it shouldn't matter. It looks like that is just for pings.

This is the option that should work. If you are getting your IP from
DHCP I guess it doesn't (see above).

This is also a way to make it work. The DMZ, though, is a security risk
because all ports are forwarded to it. From a security standpoint this
is like putting that machine in without the Linksys router. I believe a
static IP (instead of DHCP) is required here, too.

This is not what you want. This is for programs like ICQ that send
requests out of the network first.

Reasonable. And since you said it worked without the linksys that means
they aren't doing any kind of weird blocking of port 5900.

The above knowledge base article also mentions that it won't work with
older versions of the firmware (prior to 1.32). What model number and
firmware level is your router?

I wish I could give you a step to step, but the only Linksys I could
look at just got taken out by lightning. Take a look at the document
from Linksys, though, because it seems to do a good job. I would give
you a link, but it turns out to be three lines long. Search for number
KB10933123 on their site.
