Using VNC through a firewall has been discussed a number of times in the
archives:

You need to forward the connection from the external IP to the Internal
IP on port 5900+display number.  If you just have a straight firewall
and IPs that are externally routable, you just open up port 5900+display
number.

A better and more secure way would be to set up a secure tunnel (ssh,
zebedee, etc.) or a VPN.
