Reason to have the reply to the list include: Good fill of the archive: answers with the questions. Easy mail handling for the users: select on reply address, automatically reply to the list. You say the reply-to: field will be altered. If the reason is to automatically reply to the originator, I ask to switch the from: and reply-to: fields. Then a reply automates to the originator and a reply to all goes to the list (too). If there are more reasons to change the list settings, please, tell them to the list. If the fiasco is the only reason, I can tell you this will happen again, even with the new settings: If the lists mail address is somewhere in the header, then misbehaved vacation tools will send messages to it. If the lists mail address is not in the header, I do't think I will keep the list alive... Then there are the spam-block-mail-addresses. I personally don't reply to them.
