I am mostly a Unix/Sun Solaris user but I also have a Win 2K desktop and a Linux box at home. I was enthused to see the Ultr@VNC announcement. The posts of the past few days, however, leave me apprehensive which I suspect is undeserved. There are only 2 questions that the Ultr@VNC developers need to answer to silence the controversy.
1. Is the Ultr@VNC VIEWER fully compatible with all other VNC servers (Real, Tight, etc.) for viewing a session on any other OS including other windows flavors? 2. Is the Ultr@VNC SERVER fully compatible with all other VNC viewers for serving a session on any other OS including other windows flavors? Answer yes to both and that should end this somewhat tedious discussion. Also, adding a qualifier to your web page stating that this is a WinVNC replacement *NOT* in any way intended for Xvnc users may go a long way to stem the confusion. I, for one, am looking forward to the announcement of your first stable release!
