Hi

I'm using VNC to run an application called XWinNMR
on a SGI. As I got
it, accessing applications from a SGI requires 8 bit
 color. My local
RH8.0 laptop runs with 24 bpp.
Using the "vncserver -depth 8 -cc 3" options should
 get Xvnc going with
8 bpp with Pseudocolor. Many on this mailing list
 have reported that
this works well. My problem is that the program
 still have problems
displaying the colors. The colors look ok, but are
 flickering on the
screen. Starting vncviewer tells me that I'm using
 Truecolor (!):

 ----------
 [tormod@pc-52-161 tormod]$ vncviewer
VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer
 3.3)
 VNC authentication succeeded
 Desktop name "tormod's X desktop (pleiades:1)"
Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3
 VNC server default format:
   8 bits per pixel.
   Colour map (not true colour).
Using default colormap which is TrueColor. Pixel
 format:
   32 bits per pixel.
Least significant byte first in each pixel.
True colour: max red 255 green 255 blue 255, shift
 red 16 green 8 blue
 0
 Using shared memory PutImage
 ----------

But running "xdpyinfo" from Xvnc tells me that I'm
 using Pseudocolor ?
The question is: Am I running Truecolor or
 Pseudocolor ?
If I am _really_ using Truecolor, can I override the
 default ? If I am
_really_ running Pseudocolor, I assume the problem
 lies within the
 XWinNMR program.

 Here's the output from xdpyinfo:
