I have configured the xinetd of an Red Hat 8 server to start VNC
(RealVNC 3.3.6) via XDMCP (as per various posts and help from this
list). That is working quite well.
I have also changed the server XDM configuration to map the
right-alt-key as the Multi_key so as to be able to enter compose key
sequences. The standard XDM configuration looks for and uses
/etc/X11/Xmodmap. I added the mapping to this file and it works fine on
the console and on sessions with use Cygwin PC-X server and login via
XDM. It does not work for the sessions which connect using VNC.
In fact, in VNC sessions the xmodmap command runs and reports the
current mappings BUT any changes made using the xmodmap command seem to
be ignored.
How can I enable "compose key sequences" in VNC; I think this means how
can I map the right-alt-key (or some key) to Multi_key?
Is there some other config file or mapping command I can use with VNC to
achieve the same effect?
Is there a way to enable entering special characters ala-windows
ALT-numpad-sequence method?
Thanks
