hi,
we have installed VNC on our Linux server using inetd with no problems.
You must go to runlevel 5 because of XDM thats it.
Using XDM has the advantage no need for a startkde or so, clear unix
login features, basicly nothing different from any Xterminal.
(You can use all the nice X11 features :)
walter
ps: XDM means you can choose KDM ,GDM, whateverDM .

Subject: (newbie) linux bootup with vnc

i didn't get the "my favorite" way to work after a few hours of playing with
it.
Is there a simpler way to script vncserver to start up with Linux boots, or
do I have to log in from a console to start it up first?
e.g. with the Windows install it runs as a service and I can connect to the
server right after it boots "headless" and log in via vnc.
Is there a way to start from a desktop login prompt for vnc booting it
"headless" too?
thanks,
jonathan
