I am using a Netgear router and hosting on a Windows XP Pro machine. I have a dynamic IP so I use no-ip.com to forward to my computer. I have set up port forwarding on both ports 5800 and 5900.
When I attempt to connect through the java client using the domain name, I get this error: network error: server name unknown: followed by my domain name. When I attempt to connect through the java client using the ip address, I get this error: network error: no rout to server: followed by my IP address. These errors occur after I enter my password, so I know that I can get data through and access my computer on that port. When I attempt to use the vnc client to connect, I get this error: TightVNC info Failed to connect to server OK I am attempting this through my work at this time. Its a wide open network, though, and all ports are open. It is a Win 2000 server. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
