I see; I thought it was just a matter of making the server and client communicate through port 80. I didn't realize proxies actually examine the individual packets and enforce protocols. They must be far more complicated than I imagined.

I tried HTTPTunnel4VNC (http://www.online-marketwatch.com/HttpTunnel4vnc/) but couldn't get it to work. The client was complaining about missing classes that were clearly available. Can you recommend any other tunneling program?
