Not sure where that number comes from, the XFree86 source is only ~56 MB and
the compiled programs are usually smaller than the source.

As I said before you will have to chase the dependencies for your program,
too, but I'm not seeing 600 MB worth.  In the end you will just have to try
it and see what it takes.
