Hi list, Last week I asked about a problem communicating with my dad's box via (Real)VNC. Scott and Alex gave me advice on disabling a type of firewall that's included in XP and disabling the fast user switching. I still did not trust my father to be able to do those changes himself, so I tried something different:
I told him to start the server and "invite" me (Add new Client) while I was running the viewer in listen mode. It worked great. Only issue is: Noone was asked for a password, which I think could be a security issue somehow, if someone can "fake"my IP... Anyway, it worked great and I wanted to let the list know, maybe it'd work for others, too.
