Hi folks, I'm trying to use vncviewer on windows 2000, via SSH, to view a desktop on a linux system. I have set up a tunnel for the vnc port through ssh, but when I try to connect to it, there is no window appearing asking for the password. Vncviewer simply seems to hang at the point where it is supposed to ask for a password.
I have vncviewer and ssh working correctly when the client is a linux machine, so in principle the connection should be fine. The difference is that from Linux the password is asked for on the command line, whereas windows wants to use dialog boxes. The first dialog box for the server name comes up ok, and I'm fairly sure it finds the server because if I get the port number wrong I get an instant "failed to connect to server". At that point nothing else happens - there's no dialog box for the password and no viewer windows appear. Has anybody else seen this behaviour? Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong? Or how to diagnose the problem? Thanks in advance, Ron ###################################################################### This message is intended for the use of the party to whom it is addressed and may contain information which is confidential.
