This is not DOS, this is just a command shell, cmd.exe. I dont run any DOS programs in it either, just chkdsk, ipconfig and such

When I run it, no change in taks manager cpu usage, and if i type away lots randomly it notepad actually uses more cpu. This is while remote controlling.

At my own PC pressing and holding a key wont get cmd.exe over 00% cpu.

Thanks

I've noticed that using a DOS prompt in *ANY* remote software (VNC,

'host' machine spending more clock cycles on it.

If you open Task Mangler and view the processor usage before and while
you open a dos prompt, you will probably see the usage increase quite a
lot.

Whether this is connected to the slow typing, I have no idea.

I've got the "keypress update problem" described here: http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2003-January/037069.html

Updating on typing is slow (and it annoys me!)

I fixed it completely for notepad by setting use_KeyPress to 1 in its
Application_Prefs key. However, there was no cmd.exe there and even if I

add it and all the keys i couldnt get it working.

In my case

- Changing the server update handling properties to "Poll Foreground
Window" and "Poll on Event Recieved only" instead of "Poll Console
Window only"

helps somewhat, but notepad is still much more responsive than cmd.exe.

So can use_KeyPress work with cmd.exe?
