I will add something to the documentation.  The format is supposed to be

vncviewer -log <source>:<dest>:<level>

<dest> must be 'stderr' at the moment on unix, and <level> is between 0 and
100, 100 meaning most verbose output. <source> is usually * meaning all, but
you can target a specific source file if you know the name of its
"LogWriter".
