Guys,

Some years ago there was a really neat Java "OS" which you could start from
MS-DOS and which basically provided a Java-capable browser that you could
then point at a VNC server. I'm afraid I can't remember the name if it but
it sounds like it might be a good alternative to a native DOS viewer, not
least because you can use the latest Java applet embedded in VNC 4 servers.

There used to be a MS-DOS viewer floating around.  Not sure if it is
available and/or up to date any more.

This most likely indicates networking issues that you will have to resolve
before VNC will work at all.
