Sorry,

I forgot about the *inux world. And no, the virus hasn't come from
me, rather someone who is on this list and has my email address. I
use a web based email client, running off an AS/400, so the MS crap
   dosen't affect me either.

I wasn't stating that the emails/viruses were being populated
through the list. All I know is that I'm receiving emails from people
I have never communicated with. The latest one came with an identical
subject, attached file, and alledging it was from
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I realize the list strips all attachments. It would be my professional
opinion that the propagator of these messages is subscribed to this
list. The whole purpose of this post was to hopefull alert people to
check there own system, and possible find out if others are receiving
   the same problem.

   Jacob-
You want to alert *everyone* ?
Please realize that not everyone on the list is susceptible to the
Microsoft viruses and worms presently circulating, and those that are
susceptible are in no better position to do anything about it, knowing
or not knowing that *someone* has an infection.
Furthermore, whatever Microsoft infections are spreading these days,
they are NOT spreading through this particular list, since it strips
all attachments, and even renders html submissions harmless by
converting them to plain-text. See, for instance, the X-Converted
header on your own message (above).

My sympathies. But none of these originated from this list.
This is not to say that the virus did not get your e-mail address from
list messages stored on your computer if you have posted to this
list. But that would be *YOUR* problem, created by your choice to run
   Microsoft.

My suggestion to you, if you are sufficiently annoyed by these
problems, is to connect to Internet with a more sturdy operating
   system.
