Searched a found a few close to this but not quite. I'm having a couple of problems with starting the VNC service
1. It dosen't like to run as a service (windows 2000). This is happening on two of my systems. what happens is that when ran as a service that automatically starts. windows will report the service as running however when you try to connect to the service you'll get an error as if it wasnt running. If you try to stop the serive it will hang at unloading. If you have it installed as a service and manualy start it works just fine. The happens even on my laptop which use to run VNC from a autostart service just fine (on a different install of 2000 however)
2. Either having VNC running as service or just a program it tends to ignore some settings. Most noticable is that it takes away the wallpaper on connect or disconnect. This is set not to do this in the program (default settings) and in the registry.
3. I've found at least on my laptop that I can't bring up the current user settings when ran as a service (the current users settings is currently unabaliable) I can do this with the only system that is running it right.
Sorry for this long letter. The things these systems have in common is that they are running widows 2000 sp4 first had VNC 3.3.7 then switched to vnc 3.3.6. The problem started with 3.3.7 as the first of vnc on the system. Vnc was uninstalled before it was reinstalled.
Help!!!
