We're using 3.3.6 and having a bit of a problem with one user's machine
running WinXP Pro.
When he logs in and VNC loads, he gets a "WARNING: This machine has no
password set. WinVNC will present the Default Properties display now to
allow one to be entered [OK]" When we click [OK], we immediately get, "You
do not have sufficient privileges to edit the default local WinVNC
settings." However, if we go to the tray icon and get properties, we see a
password in there and we can change it!
I checked what seems to be the usual stuff - fast user switching is off,
remote desktop is off, and I added the user to both local and network admin
groups. Even logging on with the administrator account doesn't help. We've
removed (by unregistering, uninstalling, then scanning the registry and
removing all entries for WinVNC and RealVNC) and reinstalled both under his
account and under the admin account.
Any thoughts?
