: Here is the problem in detail:
: Server 192.168.55.1
: Terminals 192.168.55.10 to xx
: These Terminals have no harddrive, they boot over the net and mount the
: /urs /opt /etc from the server. The rest is in single directories per
: terminal which are connected via the boot process with tftp/bootp.
: I *dial* in via isdn and I provided the static IP Adresses 192.168.55.100
: for the server and 192.168.55.200 for me dialing in. How can I view a user
: screen running on one of the Terminals e.g. 192.168.55.10 ???
I'm not sure if "dump terminal" is a typo, a witticism,
or a technical term I'm not familar with. The term "dumb terminal"
used to be used for character cell displays mostly incapable of graphics,
connected to some host or terminal server via rs232 serial line.
It looks like "dump terminals" is being used for what used to be known
as X terminals; boxes that run a dedicated X server and not much else.
So that's what I'll assume.
The fast answer is, no you can't do that.
A slower answer is, if you just want to *see* what's on it at any
given time, ie, take a snapshot, then use xwd -display 192.168.55.10:0 | xwud
Another slower answer is, if those boxes are really running xf86 on linux,
you could try altering their boot image to include running xf4vnc,
x0rfbserver, or x11vnc. If they are (eg) tektronix or NCD boxes,
or similar dedicated boxes where the software can't be altered,
ask karl runge about x11vnc with -noshm.
