Since you press me for details, here's my best attempt: If I can have full control over a windows 32 platform with decent response, and the ability to run as a service, that would be great. The easier that I can make it for someone to remotely connect, download the viewer and view my screen, the better. Ideally, if I can find a way to package a version of VNC so that I can email it to someone and have them easily install it so that they can connect to me via a predefined IP (so that they have to do as little as possible) so that I can control their system, I would e a happy camper. I'm at a fix IP, but I have no control over the remote user, which is why I propose to package a version that simply autoconnects to me at a fixed IP.
The VNC viewer for TightVNC and RealVNC, and possibly others, is able to be distributed as a single small (~300k) executable that requires no installer. Also most version have a built in java version that you, or any client, can pull up with a standard browser.
You could use a standard installation packaging tool to install the viewer and the preferences to already have your ip address saved.
I am particularly interested in this last function -- I'd like to get as close to Glance or WEBEX type functionality to allow me remote access to a remote user's desktop as possible.
Distributing the server portion is a bit harder. xVNC is pretty good, but you have to have administrative access to their PC for it the remote installation to work. Because of the licensing you could repackage it, leaving the copyrights in place, and distribute it to do what you want.
Again, I am new to this, so I do not know (yet) if what I am asking for is reasonable, but there is my list. I'm more than willing to study docs, and I will follow up on any links provided or that I find while browsing this list.
