Jeff,
I am at a command prompt and to exit the telnet session I simply type exit.
The vncserver is still running (or appears to be) and I verified this by closing the
vncviewer that goes gray and then opening it again. Someone told me that I might have
to remove/reinstall vncserver as root so it sets itself up as a daemon but it should
have done that when I initially installed that as a sysadmin.

Matthew,
Is the vncserver script exiting? In other words, when you try to log
out from your telnet session, are you at a command prompt? Or, do you
need to take some relatively drastic action in order to get back to a
command prompt?
