Thanks

Hi Steve,
It does have the & at the end of the line and I have tried it
without and that doesn't seem to work. I am starting to wonder if
uninstalling/reinstalling the app as root would be a good idea?

Hey Matthew,
Lets see your xstartup file found in {home}/.vnc
When you run vncserver do you run it with an ampersand & ???
If so then try without and see if you get the command prompt back. If
not, an item in the xstartup needs the ampersand to send it in the
background.

Jeff,
I am at a command prompt and to exit the telnet session I simply
type exit. The vncserver is still running (or appears to be) and I
verified this by closing the vncviewer that goes gray and then opening
it again. Someone told me that I might have to remove/reinstall
vncserver as root so it sets itself up as a daemon but it should have
done that when I initially installed that as a sysadmin.

Matthew,
Is the vncserver script exiting? In other words, when you try to log
out from your telnet session, are you at a command prompt? Or, do you
need to take some relatively drastic action in order to get back to a
command prompt?
