Hi, Installed RealVNC4b4 on the mailserver. I can connect to the server even when the screensaver was active. Let's see if it stays that way. I did not install it next to v3.3.7 as I did not see where the 4b4 client asks for the port number. Of course I just now realised I should probably have entered that in the connection address like a standard ip:port address. ;-)
However, I do have a color problem. When coming out of the screen saver all grey areas on the server are pink on the client. Disconnecting and reconning will solve it. I have to look if I can reproduce this at will. There shouldn't be a problem installing VNC 4 over a VNC 3 connection, either. :) Cheers, Wez @ RealVNC Ltd. -----Original Message----- From: Bonno Bloksma [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 15 January 2004 18:23 To: James Weatherall Subject: Re: immediate disconnect using realVNC 3.3.7 Hi, Ok, I'll update the VNC on the server to RealVNC4b4. I'll do that tomorrow as it's 19:30 overhere. Installing RealVNC won't work using VNC I think. ;-) Groetjes, Bonno Bloksma .... Back up my hard drive? How do I put it in reverse? ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Weatherall" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Bonno Bloksma'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2004 6:14 PM Subject: RE: immediate disconnect using realVNC 3.3.7 Bonno, Yes, VNC 4b4 is pretty stable. I was assuming VNC 4.0 when I suggested that you check the Event Log. Are you sure that the server is running as a service, not as an application, and that it is definitely running in the LocalSystem account? Disabled the windows screensaver and have not had this problem. It seems something is happening when the screensaver is active and has locked the serverconsole. I would love to test some more but this is our mailserver, not an ideal testbed. ;-) How stable is RealVNC4b4, is it worth the effort to try to install that on the mailserver? Will it give more debugging information? Starting the service helper (whatever that may do) will have the same effect. I've updated the VNC on my workstation to VNC4b4, same problem. I do get a message now when I have a failed connection it is: "Read: Connection reset by peer (10054)". --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus using f-prot and Sophos] _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
