Hello,

I'm having a problem using the new 4.0b server. Until recently I was using
Tridia vncserver v1.4.0, with RealVNC viewer 3.3.6 (don't ask me why, it's
at work). Recently we switched to RealVNC vncserver 4.0, and this is
causing me a problem:

A program of mine which uses the g2 graphics library
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/g2/) to do X graphics gives a warning
saying "backing store not available" when it launches an X window. The
window displays OK, but if it gets obscured by another window then the
contents are gone when it is revealed again. Also if I use xwd to dump the
window the colors are all wrong.

I tried modifying the vncserver script to add +bs to the Xvnc options
list. This made the warning go away, but the behavior was the same. It
also does the same thing using viewer 3.3.6 or 4.0.

Any idea what difference between Tridia's and RealVNC's implementations is
causing the problem, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks,
        ben chaffin
