I don't get it.... Why such question? Or maybe let me ask the question
differently:
suppose I input a 10-letter password, 1234567890, to the server. Is the whole
password got passed to the server? Or it's got chopped down anyway to just 12345678
by the client before sending to the server?
If it's the second case (ie client just sends 8 letters!), I might understand
why you've asked such question.

What about if I don't succeed to setup a tunnel but I need VNC? In this case,
changing passwords aren't a better but quick (or dirty) alternative?
