Yup, a little calculation/estimation could show us. If we take a small sized
video, 320 x 240 pixels, using 24bit colours without compression and playing at 25
frames / second, then the transfer rate is
320 x 240 x 24 x 25 = 44 Mbps
and this has to be in *sustain* mode or the video would be jerky.
The highest ADSL rate I know of is just 2Mbps while the usual entry-level is
just about 128 kbps. And even at 2Mbps, nothing can guarantee a constant rate. I
don't know how much VNC can compress, but since it has to be a lossless compression,
it can't be very high.
So good video over VNC isn't for today yet :-)
