Are you using the default parameters for the network driver? On the other
hand, after those 3 or 4 min, is there any screen saver activated on the server side?
Is it possible to try another network card?

From the log, there's the mentioned "dormant mode". I don't know what it is
or what that means. Hope someone else knows.

Yes, I4m sure there4s no virus- as sure as norton is.
Reinstall doesn4t help, I4ve tried all versions of VNC.

and here is my eventlog:
Started and Winsock (v 2) initialised
bufsize expanded to 4352
Registered connection with app
Connected to xxxxx port 5911
RFB server supports protocol version 3.3
Connected to RFB server, using protocol version 3.3
VNC authentication succeeded
Clipboard changed
Don't send initial clipboard!
Desktop name "edeltraud"
Geometry 1024 x 768 depth 16
Screen work area is 1024 x 768
Requesting 8-bit truecolour
bufsize expanded to 16640
Entering dormant mode
Leaving dormant mode
rdr::Exception: rdr::SystemException: read: Unknown error (10004)
Deregistered connection from app
Exiting
VNC viewer closing down

and after that, my complete netconnectivity is gone.
the only solution is to rebbot (the Window "closing networkconnection..."
while shutdown stays on screen for about 5 min.)

Again: With the other Computer in my net (also w2k server) no probs.

        You're sure you're not getting any virus :) ?

You could check in the event log to see if anything is written there before
your network connection is broken.

If you think the cause if VNC, you could reinstall it to see if this
improves anything.
