The 4.0b4 x0vncserver used to listen on port 5998 by default rather than 5900 (this has been fixed in the version 4.0 release). You can either (a) give an rfbport=5900 argument to x0vncserver, or (b) connect to vncviewer<IP>:98 instead of :0.

However you will get much better performance by installing the vnc.so module and using that.

Cheers

Yup ... tried running x0vncserver on server side and vncviewer<IP>:0 on

x0vncserver gave output of => Sat Jul 17 22:20:15 2004
main: XTest extension present - version 2.2
Using shared memory XImage
main: Listening on port 5998
so I opened port 5998 and 5801 on both machines, then told firestarter
to trust the other machine, but to no avail. vnc/.xstartup still vanilla
version. Oh and vnc/vnc-server are version 4.0-1.beta4.11 ... ie, the
latest and greatest.

Any ideas?
