List,

I am having trouble getting the vnc server to start on Solaris. I have
never used this before and having a hard time trying to configure.
I have copied the .vnc directory from another working user but still no
luck.

=>When starting the server with the supplied commands from the user that
works.

$ /usr/local/bin/vncserver -nolisten -localhost

Warning: neptslux:2 is taken because of /tmp/.X11-unix/X2
Remove this file if there is no X server neptslux:2

New 'X' desktop is neptslux:3

Starting applications specified in /u1/luminx/users/j09ln07/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /u1/luminx/users/j09ln07/.vnc/neptslux:3.log

=> I think the error regarding the /tmp file is ignorable.

=> The log file has the following errors

 more /u1/luminx/users/j09ln07/.vnc/neptslux:3.log
_XSERVTransTRANS(TransNoListen): unable to find transport: -localhost

Fatal server error:
Failed to disable listen for -localhost
xsetroot: unable to open display 'neptslux:3'
twm: unable to open display "neptslux:3"
Xterm Xt error: Can't open display: neptslux:3

=> I even tried running the Xvnc command manually.

$  Xvnc :3 -desktop X -auth /users/j09ln07/.Xauthority -geometry 1024x768
-depth 1
_XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener
_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for local

Fatal server error:
Failed to establish all listening sockets

Not sure where to go next.

Thanks,
Steve
