Graham,

If the file is using an IP address and both machines can connect to the VNC
Server at that address when the IP address is specified on the VNC Viewer
command-line, or in the Connection Details dialog, then the only other
explanation I can think of is that whatever means you're using to transfer
the file from A to B is corrupting it.

The error you're seeing indicates a failure to resolve a host name - this
means that when copied to the second machine, the .vnc file contains data
that looks to VNC Viewer like a host _name_ rather than a host _address_.

Without having the actual files to look at, I'm afraid it's impossible to
diagnose further. :(
