You could always "nominate" that as a FAQ in the "faq.gotomyvnc.com" page...
They *do* take suggestions there.

yeah, good luck.

tried asking that they do that, or have this question number one in a faq,
or have an autoresponse made up. when you first join the group, everything
about port forwarding gets emailed to you FIRST.

Can I suggest that RealVNC include a question on this in their support
FAQ? Something like:

Q: I can't connect to my other computer using VNC. I have a router
(Linksys, D-Link, etc.)
A: (gleaned from the best responses to this question, which is easily
the most frequent one I've seen)

The Public static IP from your ISP is the public address of the router.
The
IP you are getting from your Computer is the IP that you connect to your
router on. To get through you have to use port forwarding on your
router.
For instance if you are set on VNC as connect port 1 then you want the
router to forward the IP with router to that IP port 5901 and enable.
The if
someone does your static public IP 999.999.999.999:1 they will connect
to
your machine.
