hi wez, everyone!

i while ago, i asked:

i'm planning to use realvnc both as a helpdesk and remote
administration tool.

it's very important for me that my users don't feel they are being
spied on, so i configured all servers on the windows 2k clients to
display a prompt before accepting an incoming vnc request.

unfortunately, even when nobody is logged in, the prompt is
displayed, although there is no danger of privacy invasion now. this
prevents me from using realvnc as a remote admin tool in combination
with wake-on-lan.

i'm almost certain this is a faq, but neither a web search nor the
archives have provided a clue - probably a case of Badly Worded
Search Request(tm).

if i'm really the first to ask this, how difficult can it be to add
this little conditional before prompting, and have the developers
thought about doing so?

it was discussed a little, with everybody agreeing this would be nice to have, and you eventually said:

Guys,

Personally, I think the default behaviour should actually be as you describe
i.e. only prompt if there is a user logged on. The current behaviour is not
very useful in the no-user-logged-on case.

In summary, I'll add it to the To-Do list for the next release. :)

Cheers,

Wez @ RealVNC Ltd.

i haven't yet seen this mentioned in the release notes - did i just overlook it or has it quietly fallen off the to-do-list? if so, i would really like to see it back on ;)

best wishes,

jvrn
