Thanks for the reply, However, other than trying to connect to the VNC server, every other network connection to any other resource from these problem workstations is as it should be. We simply use standard TCP/IP, no frills. I am thinking about installing an older version just for diagnostic purposes. I'll keep you updated. If you have any other info, please let me know.
As a minor correction, the actual message was "Unable to connect to host (10050)".
