Pat, The relevant terminology is:
User-Mode means VNC Server running as a normal application on the computer you are trying to access remotely. Service-Mode means VNC-Server running as a system service on the computer you are trying to access remotely. The VNC viewer is simply called VNC Viewer, and runs on the viewing computer.
