Well, I'm not a developer or anything, so I won't say that I know for sure, but I don't think what you're wanting to do is possible... any of it. In *nix, you can start servers automagically at startup, but I don't believe there is *any* way to dynamically resize the desktops, either in Windows or *nix or Mac. Some distributions of VNC will allow you to essentially magnify the remote desktop, but that's all it is, is a mangification -- you increase the size of everything, including the icons, mouse cursor, etc. For what you want, you probably need either Citrix or PC Anywhere, or similar app.
